These are a great snack to have on hand when you are craving a little something sweet and crunchy.

They can also be made with various flavored protein powders and the nut and seed butter can be replaced with dates to give them the sticking power to stay together. I have made them with vanilla pea protein before.

Cooking Time



Approximately 20 bites


4 tablespoons low sugar chocolate protein powder

2 tablespoons mixed seeds or nuts (I use pumpkin and sunflower seeds)

1 tablespoon raw cacao powder

2 heaped tablespoons nut or seed butter

1 tablespoon psyllium powder

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4-1/2 teaspoon liquid stevia

1/4-1/2 cup warm filtered water

Optional Ingredients- crushed nuts, chia seeds, coconut, and oatmeal flakes to roll the bites in.


1. In a high-powered blender,or food processor, add all the ingredients except water and optional ingredients.  Add water a little at a time and blend until the mixture is smooth. If mixture is too wet, add more protein mix; if too dry, add a splash more of water.

2. Roll into bite-size balls

3. If rolling balls in the crushed nuts, seeds, coconut or oatmeal, pour approximately 1/2 cup onto a plate and roll the balls around until coated.

Bites can be refrigerated up to 7 days in an air-tight container.
